Sail GP teams test the water in Singapore

SINGAPORE, 12 January 2022 – The nine teams competing at the inaugural Singapore Sail Grand Prix took to the water on Thursday (12 January), where they familiarised themselves with the course ahead of this weekend’s races.

The nine teams – Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Great Britain, New Zealand, Spain, Switzerland and the United States – will be a part of the most exciting racing on water here on January 14 and 15 at Parkland Green at East Coast Park. These teams will battle it out on identical, high-tech hydrofoiling F50 catamarans.

The races take place between 2pm and 3.30pm on Saturday and Sunday, and spectators who are keen to secure an unobstructed view to the thrilling action can purchase tickets to the SailGP Beach Club. Located on the beach at Parkland Green, East Coast Park, ticket holders can revel in an unparalleled race experience as they watch the battles on the water play out in front of them. In addition to unobstructed views, ticket holders also enjoy gazebo shading, dedicated screens, an all-inclusive food and drinks package – making the SailGP Beach Club the ultimate place to be this weekend.

Singapore is the eighth leg of SailGP’s eleven-stop global championship. The racing fleet boasts some of the sport’s most decorated athletes, with the likes of Olympic champions Sir Ben Ainslie (Great Britain), Tom Slingsby (Australia), and Peter Burling (New Zealand) set to race at East Coast Park this weekend.

Limited tickets are still available for the race weekend and can be purchased at www.ticketmaster.sg.
