Sail the 2020 World ARC on Pacific Expeditions’ 105ft (32m) superyacht Apache

Pacific Expeditions offers clients a unique combination of bluewater sailing and adventure sports experiences. Apache’s Captain Gerrit Scheper says, “You can join a superyacht voyage as an individual, a couple, or a group, for about what it might cost per person for a regular crewed catamaran charter in the Caribbean. Pacific Expeditions is offering ready-made adventures, for sailors of all experience levels, to join Apache’s crew as they sail around the world on the largest vessel in the 2020 World ARC.”

The 105ft aluminum ketch Apache takes part in all 13 legs of the World ARC Rally and up to eight guests per leg can join the expert resident crew to enjoy the sailing experience of a lifetime. Skipper Gerrit Scheper is an RYA/MCA Master of Yachts 200gt (RYA Yachtmaster Ocean) and qualified RYA instructor – so expedition members can add expert training and ‘mile building’ to this bluewater experience.

The 13 leg World ARC rally starts in St Lucia in January 2020; taking crews across the Caribbean, through the Panama Canal, across the Pacific to Australia, the Indian Ocean to Cape Town, the Atlantic to Brazil then back up to the Caribbean. All destinations offer incredible shore excursions. Price per person per leg is US$7000; apart from the shorter final leg in 2021 (Grenada to St.Lucia via the Windward Islands) at $4900; and the longest (Tahiti to Tonga) at $8000.

There’s also a special offer for two people to sail on Apache for the entire 2020 World ARC. The price for an individual Round-the-World Pass is $76,000 (a substantial discount off the 13 leg total of $89,900).

Members on Apache can also enjoy adventure sports. On various legs, accomplished guest instructors join expedition members to offer coaching in their area of expertise. Sailing, kiteboarding and photography experts are just some of the specialists currently booked with Pacific Expeditions. Kiteboarding pro Jake Kelsick says, “I can't believe we are going to be a part of such an amazing adventure. This is will be the trip of a lifetime and one that we will carry with us forever.” Talented professionals may also visit the website to submit a c.v. if interested in participating as a guest instructor.

Prior to the World ARC 2020, Apache is available for seven trips in the fall of 2019 including the outward leg from Newport to the Azores, on to Portugal, around the Mediterranean then back to the ARC 2019 start in Gran Canaria. She is already booked for the ARC 2019 by a group of sailors from a yacht club in Europe. After the ARC World Rally finishes in 2021, Apache is available for other Pacific adventures.

The 105ft Apache was conceived and designed by Dominique Presles and Jacques Pierrejean specifically for chartering and cruising the world and was built to Bureau Veritas standards. She accommodates eight guests in great comfort (in four staterooms) and up to six regular crew.

Thanks to her ketch rig, hydraulic winches and furling headsails the 105ft Apache can be sailed by as few as three people. She cruises effortlessly at 10 knots, and can regularly hit 16+ knots offshore. She offers exciting sailing and comfortable accommodation to guests; as well as ‘line honours’ potential.

In short, Apache’s ARC World Rally voyage offers the experience of a lifetime.
