Scotch College wins College Cup

The 2022 College Cup at Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club, WA had the presence of former and current Royal Perth Yacht Club sailors from Trinity College, Aquinas College and Christ Church Grammar School.

Last Sunday morning (1 May) was a blessed one – for those who like to soak in the Freshwater Bay views and vibes, but not really for our local sailors. Very light winds turned a seven race regatta into a best of three, pushing all sailors to fight to finish before their times were out. After a lot of patience, endurance, and great conversations on the water: we have got the results.

With two wins and a second position in the last race, the Scotch College Team (skippered by Will Boulden) proved that they can dominate the Swan River under any conditions by winning the title and getting the Perpetual Trophy.

In second place was Christ Church Grammar School (Team One – skippered by the legendary Peter Gilmour). Third place went to CCGS (Team 2 – Skippered by Pete Bowman). The traditional Rum Barrel went to Trinity College, Perth as the 2022 Best Dressed Team.

“Always good to get some old schoolmates back together and great to see some new teams join this year. Need to get some girls teams involved,” commented Lachy Gilmour, skipper of CCGS Team 3.

Well done to all competitors and volunteers for organising a fun and challenging College Cup. A great way to finish another sailing season. See you all again in 2023.
