SUNBEAM Yachts is never satisfied with the status quo. This is also the case with the SUNBEAM 29.1. Based on the current SUNBEAM 29.1, a GT model has been developed that focuses even more on performance and sportiness.
The GT stands for Gran Tourismo and is characterized by consistent weight optimization.
The performance T-keel ensures less water resistance and more speed due to its unique shape. With a draft of 175 cm, it offers the same righting moment with less weight. The twin rudder system is replaced by a single deep racing rudder, resulting in more precise steering. In addition, the GT variant has lighter hatches and covers as well as a cork deck covering.
The removable bowsprit is 50 cm longer, allowing for an A2 gennaker with 80 m². The greater distance between the forestay and gennaker ensures easier handling.
With a total of 110 m² upwind, this provides even more downwind power. For classic regatta courses, a spinnaker with 75 m² can also be set on the standard spinnaker gear.
Instead of a pantry, a gennaker/spinnaker stowage bag is integrated, allowing for easy stowing of downwind sails in the cockpit. The forward berth can be replaced by a sail bag.
Optionally, the SUNBEAM 29.1 GT can also be equipped with a carbon mast.
A 1.6 kW Aquamot Travel with a removable battery serves as propulsion. Onboard electronics are omitted and replaced by an optional power bank.
Through these modifications, approximately 500 kg of weight can be saved, depending on the equipment.
The variant with twin steering stations is available for both the SUNBEAM 29.1 and the GT version. This has successfully expanded the range between comfort and sportiness.
