'Taking Flight – Britain's America's Cup Challenge' takes to the airwaves

A new documentary, narrated by presenter and broadcaster Clare Balding, gets behind-the-scenes access to Britain's Challenger for the 35th America's Cup – Land Rover BAR. Led by the most successful Olympic sailor in history – multiple gold winning Olympian Sir Ben Ainslie – 'Taking Flight' follows the team as they prepare to try and win sport's oldest international trophy. Britain has never won the America's Cup, a competition that dates back to an original race around the Isle of Wight in 1851.

The documentary, following the team for the last year, is an intimate portrayal of top athletes, engineering excellence and a dedicated shore crew who together plan to Bring the Cup home to Britain.

The documentary makers were given unprecedented access to the team and was produced by Arrow Media and Executive Producer, Nick Metcalfe and Creative Director, John Smithson whose previous work includes 'Touching the Void', 'Deep Water' and '127 Hours', along with an extraordinary slate of TV documentaries.

Original music is by Grammy Award and Golden Globe nominated British singer and songwriter Scott McFarnon. McFarnon has collaborated with some of the biggest names in the music industry, including Beyoncé and Mark Ronson, and was the writer responsible for Daniel Merriweather's 2009 global hit 'Red'. McFarnon has now written the team's official song, the foot-to-the-floor anthem, 'Running Deep'.

The track is being released and will be available for streaming and downloads from Friday 22nd July 2016.
