The Hanse 455 is the latest model from the Hanse Five series, a 45 foot performance yacht with contemporary design and flexible layout options, has arrived in Sydney.
A few years ago the average size of cruising yacht new buyers aspired to own was 40ft. Nowadays a 45ft (13.7 metres) yacht is more the norm. In designing the new 455, Hanse have created more space and a larger performance rig than the previous model, yet the yacht is still easy to handle.
The 455 has a large cockpit for giving owners plenty of storage options and enough space for sailing in comfort or relaxing in port. Big hull windows mean a saloon and galley with a view and with the increased number of opening hatches there is extra light and ventilation throughout the accommodation below deck.
The performance rig is ten per cent larger than the previous model and well balanced for sailing fast with ease. All halyards, sheets, trimming and reefing lines are completely covered by the deck to the aft helm positions creating a neat deck. The self-tacking headsail means the 455 is ideal for single-handed sailing or for enjoying a day on the water with inexperienced crew.
Other design features include a T-speed keel with strong stainless steel bolts, a hull deck with bulwark and coachroof integrated and curved flush hatches. The Hanse 455 has the choice of three or four cabins and multiple interior finish options.
Mary Bickley, Hanse brand manager for Team Windcraft commented “we are seeing more buyers wanting more space. The Hanse 400 was a very popular size choice for many and we see the 455 as the natural progression. People can now have a 45 foot yacht that is easy to handle. It is perfect for the Australian market.”
