Three consecutive wins for Groupe Atlantic

Châtelaillon-Plage, France: After 12 days of racing the Groupe Atlantic crew have achieved their seventh victory in total, and third consecutive win, at the Tour Voile 2021.

The Groupe Atlantic crew continue to catch up to the overall leaders, Helvetia Blue by Normandy Elite Team, with just four points between them and first place. Royan Atlantique remains third overall, ahead of the all-female Helvetia Purple by Normandy Elite Team. The Helvetia Purple crew won two of the five races held on Thursday July 15, and remains well placed to snatch third place.

Another win for the Groupe Atlantic team, who now sit just four points behind first place.

After a well earned lay-day, racing commenced on Thursday for the sixth stage of this 2021 edition at Châtelaillon-Plage, located more than 300 kilometres south of the previous race course at Erquy.

The Groupe Atlantic crew have certainly bounced back after their disappointing result (eight place) from earlier in the tour. Groupe Atlantic skipper Clément Cron said, “The objective is not necessarily to win everything but above all to finish ahead of Helvetia Blue. We learnt a good lesson from our 8th place. We will not do it again!”

The fight between third and fourth place, is also an intense one. Helvetia Purple’s Pauline Courtois said, “We ended the day very well. We know that it will be a fight until the end with Royan Atlantique and the Belgians (from BE.Brussels – Kidibul Powered by Flying Frogs, NDR), we must continue to raise our level of play. We are feeling confident about tomorrow’s race.”
