Ukrainian Sail Day at Mornington Yacht Club

On Sunday 15 January Mornington Yacht Club hosted over 20 displaced Ukrainian kids who fled their homeland last year after the outbreak of war. The aim was to give the kids a fun day sailing in our “backyard”, that we get to enjoy every week.

Solomiya Dobosh, from Lviv, Ukraine – Here for 1 month to attend Plast Ukrainian Scout Jamboree held over Christmas/New Year –She flew home today to continue working and doing her humanitarian aid work.

With the assistance of the local Ukrainian community and Plast Ukrainian Scouts Australia, Mornington YC volunteers gave up their Sunday to provide a little bit of fun. On big boats, small boats and power boats all the kids got out on the water, with most taking the wheel or tiller. Then back to the club for a BBQ.
