With an elapsed time of 23 days 16 hours 25 minutes and 20 seconds, Team Brunel has won the second leg of the 2014/15 Volvo Ocean Race from Cape Town to Abu Dhabi. Brunel beat the Chinese entry Dongfeng by just 16 minutes and 20 seconds. Abu Dhabi just failed in their quest to win the race to their home port. At time of writing they had just 10nm to the finish line.
The rest of the fleet are a considerable distance behind. Mapfre has 158nm to sail, Team Alvimedica has 178nm and the all-womens Team SCA has 274nm left. Team Vestas Wind retired after hitting a reef off Mauritius.
