Zhik's high tech thermal fibre meets Merino wool

For sailors wanting to stay warm, dry and active in the same clothes day in, day out, Zhik’s new HydroMerino base layer is designed to do just that. This unique fusion of two fabrics creates a highly durable, high performance, thermal layer for extended periods of active wear.

HydroMerino is an entirely new composite material, resulting from extensive development with the Dongfeng Race Team during the Volvo Ocean Race 2017-18. Racing in this extreme environment, the team specified they wanted a warmer Merino base layer, with the extremely high wicking performance of Zhik’s existing Hydrobase Superthermals.

The result is HydroMerino. An intricate weave, blending the natural anti-odour, comfort and warmth benefits of Merino wool, with polyester for its ultra-high wicking and enhanced durability, and polypropylene for its hydrophobic (water-shedding) and thermal properties.

Available in a top and long pants in unisex sizes, HydroMerino is high stretch for comfort, with external stitching to reduce skin chafe for prolonged periods of wear. Water repellent Avlare fabric is used at the cuffs and ankles to keep your limbs dry.
